Our Veterinarians

Dr. Shereen Burton

Medical Director

Dr. Burton wanted to be a veterinarian from a young age. In her early teens she raised a Guide Dog for the Blind and began volunteering at a veterinary hospital close to her home in San Jose, CA. She worked as a veterinary assistant in that hospital until leaving for college where she received a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Chico State University. When the time came to pick veterinary colleges, Dr. Burton chose Ross University, School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2006. After veterinary school she moved to Las Vegas with her husband and began working as an associate at a small animal hospital. She joined the US Army Reserves, Veterinary Corps in 2009 to build her career and help give back to our community and country. In 2012, Dr. Burton began volunteering and doing relief work at The Animal Foundation, a large nonprofit open admission animal shelter. When the shelter needed a Chief Veterinarian, she accepted their offer to join the team full time. Wanting to expand her career, in 2018, Dr. Burton joined Zoetis as a professional services veterinarian. She was with Zoetis for over 5 years providing education and support to veterinary hospitals throughout California, Arizona, and Southern Nevada. She returned to practice full time in 2023, full of knowledge and eager to employ the medical and communication skills she is so passionate about. Dr. Burton is Human-Animal Bond Certified, Fear-Free Certified and is Certified as a Compassion Fatigue Professional. Her mission is to provide compassionate care to pets and their people through the power of the human-animal bond.

Dr. Caitlin Mascaro

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Mascaro was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She received her Bachelor’s in Animal Science and Technology at Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!) while also working as a Veterinary Technician. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine in Alabama. Her professional interests include internal medicine, dermatology, and dentistry. In her free time, Dr. Mascaro enjoys hiking, kayaking, traveling, riding horses, and watching the LSU Tigers play football. She has 2 dogs: Senor Uno (Terrier Mix) and Satchmo (Bernese Mountain Dog); and 2 horses: Magic and Bizou who live in Louisiana.
